Obituary: Emilio S. Lujan

Emilio S. Lujan passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 16, 2016.

Emilio was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico, on April 28, 1933, one of five children born to Espeto and Soraida Lujan. Emilio moved to Chino Valley, Arizona, in 1980, where he worked for the Prescott National Forest. He had a long career with the U.S. Forest Service, 33 years, in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Montana, retiring from the Prescott National Forest in 1991.

Emilio had a love of horses and spent many enjoyable hours on horseback in remote areas of National Forest lands as a part of his job, as well as riding on his own time just for fun. Emilio was very active in the Chino Valley Lions Club for many years as well as volunteering for other charitable organizations in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Pat; daughter, Emily (New Mexico); son, Alfred (San Diego); daughter Rebecca (Scottsdale); and stepdaughter, Dorothy (Prescott). He is also survived by two grandchildren, Scotty and Sasha from Scottsdale; brother Alfred; sisters Helen, Priscilla and Isabel; and his extended family in the Verde Valley.

A memorial service will be held at the Chino Valley United Methodist Church, 735 E. Road One South, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at 10 a.m.
