The Yavapai College Prescott Campus Library will celebrate its 40th anniversary as a member of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college's community room (building 19, room 147).
Keynote speaker Dan Stanton, government information librarian from Arizona State University, will address the event theme: "Voting: Our Struggle. Our Right. Our Responsibility."
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's color guard will present the colors along with a presentation from the ERAU ROTC rifle drill team. Representatives from the League of Women Voters will discuss the history of voting rights for women. A photo booth and refreshments will be available.
"We are extremely excited about this anniversary event," said Ginney Bilbray, Yavapai College's government documents librarian. "The library joined the FDLP program in 1976, and there are currently over 1,200 FDLP libraries in the United States."
Federal depository libraries serve the public by offering free, public access to government library materials addressing various subjects.
"At FDLP libraries, librarians are on hand to help sort through all of the amazing information available to the public," Bilbray said. "We hope this event helps people recognize the wealth of government resources available."
