PRESCOTT VALLEY - Police say a man assaulted two officers Friday, Feb. 5, and later escaped from the hospital before officers again apprehended him.
At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, a citizen identified Michael McMullen, 28, of Prescott Valley, who had outstanding arrest warrants, in the 4300 block of Parent Road.
When police arrived, McMullen reportedly climbed a chain-link fence and fled into a residential backyard, where officers later apprehended him.
"McMullen resisted arrest and spat into the face of one of the officers," department Spokesman Sgt. Jake Jackson said. "The arresting officer sustained a small laceration to his hand, while the other assisting officer was exposed to bodily fluids (saliva)."
Emergency medical personnel treated both officers at the scene, and they returned to duty, Jackson said.
Authorities transported McMullen to a hospital, where he was being evaluated.
Jackson said the suspect fled the hospital on foot, and was again apprehended just before 5 p.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of Navajo Drive.
He was booked into the Yavapai County Jail. He had three outstanding warrants from Prescott Valley Municipal Court and faces five additional felonies including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs, resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
