MIJTED aviation student soars to on-the-job success
Aviation Technologies is a popular Mountain Institute JTED program located at Yavapai College Center for Career and Technical Education. Gary Medevielle, who is a senior at Chino Valley High School, has landed a job with Northaire Aviation, as an Operations Controller.
Gary is in his second year of the MIJTED Aviation program. At his current position with Northaire, he monitors the progress of daily activities to make sure they are completed on time and safely. The MIJTED Aviation program has helped him practice radio calls, complete lift equations and understand how to react in different air traffic situations. During Gary's course work for the Aviation program, he has taken courses in Air Traffic Control as well as Ground classes in airplane and helicopter.
His experience at Northaire has allowed him to understand how the skills in the aviation courses are used in real-life situations. The instructor pilots are also providing Gary will assistance in his studies when he is having trouble mastering a concept.
The MIJTED aviation program, along with his current employment, has helped Gary understand Aviation from the classroom to a real-world setting. Both MIJTED and Northaire have provided the experience needed to fully understand a career in aviation.
As the Aviation industry continues to grow, MIJTED and Northaire both understand the value of Career and Technical Education programs and the impact they can have on high school student's career goals.
