PRESCOTT – A man wanted by Prescott police on charges of child molestation was arrested Saturday, Dec. 10, in Lawton, Oklahoma, according to Prescott Deputy Chief of Police Amy Bonney.
Sunshine Jean Lewis Carter, 42, was being sought on a warrant after a police investigation concluded that he had inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl who was known to him, Bonney said.
Carter had told people he wanted to commit “suicide by cop” or possibly harm himself, Bonney said.
He was taken into custody after a tip indicated he had been seen at a home in the area.
“At this time, it is unknown why he traveled to that area or what ties he has to the residence where he was found,” Bonney said.
The Yavapai County Attorney’s Office will coordinate efforts to have Carter extradited to Arizona.
