My Point column: 2017 tennis calendar sure to entice, tempt

In the scheme of day-to-day things you have to do, there are fun carrots that we need to keep our lives a bit challenged in competition as well as enjoyment and satisfaction ... and there’s nothing like a few tennis events for tennis players to do just that.

The new year (2017) is just around the corner and this column will give you quite a few choices of different tennis events that cover the Phoenix, Northern Arizona and Prescott areas for you to pick and choose from in various tournaments.

The ability levels range from beginners to advanced play, age groups, some in your back yard and others only as far as the Valley.  Certainly you can go far and wide, but it’s fairly taxing to travel to Tucson, or farther, unless you are more dedicated than the normal player and have an abundance of time and money.

Over and beyond what is listed here that might make sense for you to think about as a sold person on the game of tennis, you can expand your own research at usta.com, and then visit “tennislink.”

Here’s hoping to see you on the courts a lot in the coming year!
