Prescott police car involved in collision

PRESCOTT – A police officer sustained minor injuries in a crash Thursday afternoon, Aug. 18, when he hit a car that was turning in front of him, Deputy Police Chief Amy Bonney said.

About 4:40 p.m., the police car was headed east on Gurley Street, approaching Bradshaw Drive. As the officer came up to the intersection, the traffic light turned green and the officer began to drive through it, Bonney said.

A car, driven by a 42-year-old Prescott woman was facing the opposite direction and turned left in from of the police car at the intersection.

The two cars collided, causing major damage to both.

The police officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries, including some abrasions and bruises to his arm, and was released.

The driver of the other car was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
