Obituary: David C. Arkells
David C. Arkells, born in San Bernardino, California, on Jan. 11, 1933, passed away on Aug. 12, 2016.
David grew up in Yucaipa, California. He graduated from Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, California, in 1958. His major was Dairy Manufacturing & Dairy Husbandry. He served in the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington, and as a Food and Dairy Inspector in Seattle. He retired from State Chemical Manufacturing in 1997.
David married Joyce DeGottardi on June 16, 1956, and they spent 60 years together. Their children: Annette, Alan (grandchildren Nathan and Amy and two great grandchildren); Arnold (grandchildren Isabel, JulieAnne, Miranda and Nicholas); and Adam (grandchildren Nickolas and Emily).
David loved gardening, music, dancing socializing and talking. He was also a Little League Coach, Athletic Director and
Lectern Coordinator in Pomona, California. Also, Eucharistic Minister at St. Germaine Catholic Church and Board of Directors for StoneRidge Development.
At age 11, he was a member of a tap dance group that entertained the troops at military bases all over Southern California. He also competed and won numerous gymkana horse shows in California. Dave loved life, loved to travel and loved his kids and grandkids.

A Casketed Burial with Full Military Honors will take place on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at The National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
