Mr. Jacobson

Roger Jacobson, 85, died Aug. 5, 2016, in Prescott, Arizona. Roger was born July 24, 1931, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Carl and Martha (Stevens) Jacobson.

Roger grew up during the Depression and from a young age spent time on the farm milking cows by hand, riding horses and driving tractors and cars. He left high school at the age of 16 to begin work. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and has remained an active lifelong member.

Roger entered military service in 1951 and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married Jerene (Barth) Jacobson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Locust, Iowa, on March 7, 1954. Two children were born to them in Decorah. Roger moved his family to Culver City, California, in 1957 for better job opportunities. There he began his sales career. The Jacobsons settled in Prescott in 1972 when their car broke down here on their way to relocating to Wisconsin. In Prescott, Roger had a 39-year career as a real estate broker. He was the first real estate agent in Prescott to receive GRI Designation as a graduate of the REALTORS Institute of Arizona and the first agent in Prescott awarded CRS Designation as a Certified Residential Specialist.

He is survived by his wife, Jerene; children, Rhonda (Allan) Tramel and Gary (Marcia) Jacobson, all of Prescott; grandsons, Dustin (Katie) Tramel of Tucson, Ryan Tramel of Glendale and Adam Jacobson of Phoenix; and great-grandchildren, Ivy, Vera, Roxanne, Preston and Brooklynn.
