There are many marvelous Prescott legends that are a delight to read, hear and retell. And tales regarding our own Whiskey Row are no exception. Thorough research, however, can reveal some tales as spectacular yarns at best.
This Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m., local historian and author Brad Courtney will be on hand at the Phippen Museum to sort through the facts and legends of Whiskey Row in his presentation, “Buckshot & Dynamite: Whiskey Row’s Untold Stories.”
Featuring crazy tales from what is arguably the most fascinating quarter of a city block in western America, this program has it all: legendary characters, murder, jealousy, scandal and more than its share of intrigue.
Join the Phippen for these captivating stories that prove truth is sometimes more amusing than legend. This special heritage programming accompanies the museum’s current exhibits, “Golden Age of the Cowgirl,” featuring a mix of artwork, memorabilia and artifacts, and “Inspiration to Creation,” focusing on the hidden life behind the creation of bronze sculpture.
The Phippen Museum is located only a few minutes north of downtown Prescott, Arizona at 4701 Highway 89 North. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for AAA members, $5 for students with ID, and free for museum members and children 12 and younger.
For additional information on these or any other events at the museum, call 928-778-1385, or visit www.phippenartmuseum.org.
