Matthew C. Swope graduates Air Force basic training
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Matthew C. Swope graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Swope is the son of Martin Swope of Prescott Valley, Ariz., brother of Christina Swope of San Diego, Calif., and Tyler Swope of Trabucco Canyon, Calif., and grandson of Janice Bowker of La Habra, Calif.
He graduated in 2010 from Ernest Righetti High School, Santa Maria, Calif.
