PRESCOTT VALLEY – A woman was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital in serious condition late Sunday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 69 near the intersection of Fain Road.

Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Jeremy Martin said the collision may have been induced by a medical problem.

Witnesses told police the driver pulled her Nissan sedan off the road just past the Maverik gas station at Highway 69 and Fain and appeared to be waving for help from inside the vehicle.

Witnesses said it looked like she was having a seizure. As help approached, the vehicle accelerated off the road, stopped and then took off again, shooting across four lanes of traffic.

It went into an embankment about 150 feet off the road, Martin said.

Highway 69 northbound was down to one lane briefly. The Department of Public Safety, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Arizona Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, Martin said.
