Charles Richard (Dick) Judy

Charles Richard (Dick) Judy, recently of Prescott, Arizona died in his home on March 23, 2016 with his loving wife and son by his side.

Dick was born on June 7, 1931 in Flint Michigan to Raul and Beatrice Judy and was an only child.

Dick met Loretta Perrin in high school in 1943. At first, she would have nothing to do with him (even going so far as her finding other girls for him to date) but during their junior year Loretta finally relented and they became famous high school sweethearts at Beecher High in Flint.

After graduation, Dick enlisted in the Navy and was sent to Guam during the Korean Conflict. While in Guam, he was responsible for maintaining the electrical systems on the aircraft that ferried wounded men from Korea to Hawaii. He was then stationed in Hawaii where he realized that his life could never be complete without the love of his life and he could not wait any longer to have Loretta by his side as his wife.

So, one day during a particularly boring duty he sat down at a blackjack game and played for over 23 hours straight until he had taken enough money from the other sailor’s paycheck that he could buy the plane ticket that would bring his beauty to his side.

After an arduous journey on an assortment of various planes and automobiles, Loretta Perrin became Mrs. Judy on June 9, 1951.

In 1954, after returning stateside to their home in Flint, Dick and Loretta had their first son Rick and when the baby was barley 18 months old they decided to go west. Thus began another arduous journey in a 1950 Nash automobile that overheated every 100 miles, all the while little Ricky throwing his 100 toy cars that Dick had bought him out the window at every junction while screaming all the way across New Mexico because there was no porcelain potties.

After coming to California, Dick began pursuing a career in Aerospace as an engineer and eventually wound up working for Bendix Pacific and obtaining several patents for Under Water Sonar equipment.

Dick and Loretta had two more children, Larry born in 1957 and Patty born in 1960.

After retiring at age 55, Dick spent the rest of his life traveling the country and living in an RV with his beloved wife Loretta until 2006 when they settled down in Jojoba Hills SKP Park in Aguanga, California. Dick and Loretta had been actively involved (Dick was construction superintendent) in the building of this wonderful 5-star RV park with 283 RV sites.

Building the park was accomplished as a cooperative effort between a contractor and the future residents of the park. This was Dick’s crowning achievement in life and the happiest time in his life according to his son and wife.

In 2014, Dick and Loretta relocated to Prescott, Arizona to be close to their son Rick in their later years. Dick spent many hours kayaking with Rick, riding on the back of Rick’s Harley and participating in biker and veteran events during the last two years of life and enjoyed the comradery of the biker community.

Dick was an avid bicyclist and pilot and in later years loved flying (crashing) radio controlled airplanes and spending

time with his son and grandson.

Dick is survived by his wife, Loretta L. Judy; son Charles R. Judy Jr.; daughter Patryce Lynn Mendoza; brothers Ronald Perrin and Darrel Perrin; sister Linda Greene; grandsons, Shawn Weber, Christian Judy, Jason Judy, Paul Mendoza, Joshua Mendoza; granddaughter Danielle Zarote; great grandson Ricky Weber; and great granddaughter Cadence Mendoza. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Beatrice and Raul Judy; sister Jeanette Cook; and brother Michael Perrin.

A military funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. on April 8, 2016, at the Prescott Memorial Chapel. A military procession will depart the chapel at 10:30 a.m. escorted by the Patriot Bike Riders and will arrive at the Prescott National Cemetery for a graveside service with full military honors under the direction of the American Legion Post 6. Memorials or contributions appreciated to Tender Hearts or Maggie’s Hospice, which provided end of life care.
