Corridor Briefs: craft and rummage sale at Cordes Lakes Community Center

SPECIAL EVENTS

April 2 will be the craft and rummage sale at Cordes Lakes Community Center and it will start at 9 a.m. Table space is sold out so there should be great selections.

April 5 is Kindergarten Round-Up at Mayer Elementary School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Be sure to call 928-642-1101 for an appointment and bring shot records and birth certificate.

April 7 and 8, St. Vincent de Paul on Highway 69 in Mayer (next to Harley Davidson) will hold a bag sale. Pay only $2 for a bag and fill it with whatever will fit. Need another bag? Buy one for $2.

The American Legion Post 122 will hold an ATV Run on April 9. Sign-up starts at 8:30 a.m. at Henry Cordes Park (near entrance of Cordes Lakes) with the run starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at Horseshoe Ranch for lunch. Cost is $15 per unit, which includes a lunch and raffle ticket. Additional lunch tickets are $5 for pulled pork, beans, and beverage. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. This fundraising is for the Children & Youth programs sponsored by American Legion Post 122.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is holding a yard sale on April 9 and 10.

April 14 is the Ladies Luncheon at Cordes Lakes Community Center with the theme of Garden Tea Party, serving a traditional English Tea along with fantastic entertainment and many great door prizes, such as a meal for two at Cracker Barrel. Cost is $12 and it begins at noon. Call 928-632-8965 for ticket seller near you.

April 14 is also the date for the Cordes Lakes Community Association General Meeting at 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, with Judge Bill Rummer as guest speaker.

April 20 and 28 are food programs at Cordes Lakes Community Association, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Sign-up starts at 7 a.m.

WEEKLY EVENTS

Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available, held at Cordes Lakes Community

Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Jackpot varies weekly.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is held weekly on Fridays at 20049 E. Club Lane. Weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m., with meetings starting at 9 a.m.

The Tuesday Planning Committee is changing its meeting time. It will meet at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive on the first Tuesday of each month in order to accommodate those that work during the day. The meetings for the balance of Tuesdays will be at 9 a.m. Meetings are open to everyone and they are hoping to get the working people to attend to present their ideas by having it held in the evening.

United Teens meet every Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Cordes Lakes Library,

15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. This group works together on fundraising and volunteering in the community.

Exercise Class is suspended for March, but normally held at Cordes Lakes Community Center. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday each week from 7 to 8 a.m. That’s 8 sessions for only $5. The fee covers the cost of building use. Contact Kimila at 928-713-3782.

Young Lives meets at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Beading is held Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Beading Class is held every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the MAAC, 10051 Miami.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Storytime at the Cordes Lakes Public Library is held on the first Friday of the month, with Miss Cindy reading a story to the pre-schoolers at 3 p.m. The library is located at 15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds their outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members’ homes. Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.

Love Ministry is closing its doors. Due to health issues in her family, low volunteer assistance, and poor donations, keeping the “department store” open is no longer possible. Carol is holding the last yard sale at the Museum/Tourist Center site at 19600 E. Stagecoach on April 9.

Mayer Fire has its open board meetings on the third Tuesday (Yes, they have CHANGED THE DAY again) of the month at 6 p.m. at the main location on Highway 69.

American Legion meetings changed to the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room at the 50s Backseat Diner, 19780 Hitching Post Way. The change is to accommodate those still working. Hope to see you on April 20.
