Letter: Support PUSD
I have been a public school teacher in our community for 28 years. I had the honor of representing Prescott, its educators and its children as the Arizona Teacher of the Year in 2004. I encourage all of you to vote "Yes" on the upcoming PUSD Bond/Override Election.
I am in agreement with many of you who argue that it is the state's responsibility to finance our public schools. Unfortunately, our state has been negligible in regard to paying for the education of our children. Therefore, it is now up to all of us to work together as a community to support our educators and children.
For Prescott to thrive and grow and prosper we need to have an economically healthy city. A balanced community is like any other of life's cycles - the oldest among us care for the youngest and our youngest grow up to care for our oldest. We need the retired households, the professional families, the hard-working young parents and our children to make our city vibrant and welcoming to all who visit or choose to live here.
I beseech you to vote YES - not only for our children and teachers but for the healthy continuance of the lifestyle so many of you cherish dearly.
