Obituary: Walter E. Smith

Walter E. Smith, 84, passed away Aug. 29, 2015 in Prescott, Arizona.

Walter was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on May 29, 1931. After serving in the Korean War, he provided for his family owning service stations in California, farming in Oklahoma, and construction work in Arizona. Walt retired from Arizona Public Service in 1996 after working 20 years at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. He and his wife, Vernette moved from Buckeye to Prescott in 1995. Walt enjoyed hunting, fishing and "chewing the fat" with anyone who would listen.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, three of his four siblings, wife Elaine, oldest daughter Danette, and great granddaughter Caitlyn. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vernette; sons Steven (Debbie), Dennis (Belinda) and Kyle (Autumn); his daughter GayLee (Gary); and his Aunt Neva. He has 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren with many nieces, nephews, cousins and the most wonderful friends.

He will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace.

Celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at C.A.S.A., 9630 Manzanita Circle, Prescott Valley, Arizona.
