Greenway no contest, Prescott Badgers earn 48-0 blowout
PHOENIX - Five different Badger players scored a touchdown in the first half and the Prescott football team earned its third straight victory with a 48-0 win over Greenway on Friday night.
"We continue to get better. ... This was a warmup for section play, and we need to get ready for section play," Prescott head coach Cody Collett said in a radio interview. "We are going to take one practice at a time, one film session at a time, one game at a time and get better."
Quarterback Ryan Greene had 107 yards passing and 101 yards on the ground against Greenway to go along with his two rushing touchdowns.
The sophomore scored on a 63-yard touchdown run with 9:28 to play in the second quarter to give the Badgers a 21-0 lead, then put Greenway [1-4 Overall] away in the third quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run to make it 42-0 with 7:02 to play.
His effort Friday night against the Demons follows up a two-touchdown performance against Moon Valley last week.
Green wasn't the only player firing on all cylinders against Greenway.
Running back Christian Setter broke out of a mini slump against the Demons, opening the evening's scoring with a 12-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 Badgers at the 7:47 mark in the first quarter.
The score was set up after junior outside linebacker David Pearce recorded a sack on fourth down for Greenway, forcing the Demons to turn the ball over on downs and giving it to the Badgers on their own 43-yardline.
Setter had three straight 100-yard-plus games on the ground to begin the season, including a 267-yard, four-touchdown effort against North Canyon in a 53-26 win on Sept. 11.
The junior had just 59 yards on the ground and one score in the 27-10 win over Moon Valley last week, but finished Friday night's game against Greenway with 80 yards rushing, most of which came in the first half.
Other Prescott [4-1 Overall] player scores include junior fullback Colin Mills made it a 14-0 Badger lead on a 9-yard touchdown run with 2:47 to play in the first quarter.

With 1:38 to play on a running clock due to the blowout, junior Dawson Winslow took his turn under center and scored on a 12-yard touchdown run to make it 48-0.
The Badgers will continue their three-game road swing next week by traveling to Flagstaff to play the Coconino Panthers on Friday, Oct. 2. Prescott will return home the following week to host Apache Junction on Friday, Oct. 9. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
