Obituary: Darlene Mae Martinson

Mrs. Darlene Mae Martinson, 80, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and wife of the late Colonel Ronald Henry Martinson, entered into rest on Sept. 10, 2015.

Born in Manhattan, Montana, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Sue Kerns Campbell. After high school, she attended the University of Montana, then married Ron on July 13, 1957, and moved to Great Falls, Montana. She raised three children and worked for over 10 years at Spencer's of Montana. After Ron retired from the Montana Air National Guard, they lived in Fargo, North Dakota, and Oahu, Hawaii, before settling in Prescott Valley, Arizona, in 1999, where Darlene became very active in her Prescott Valley community and church. She also enjoyed reading, time with friends, and traveling internationally and locally to visit children, grandchildren and friends with her husband. In 2013, her husband of 55 years passed away and she moved to California near her son, Tom Martinson.

Darlene leaves her cherished memories to many people who loved her. She is survived by daughter, Lori (Kevin) Kostelnik, Aiken, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Samantha Kostelnik and Colton Kostelnik, Columbia, South Carolina; sons Thomas (Brenda) Martinson, Carlsbad, California and Rick Martinson, Portland, Oregon; brother Donald (Vee) Campbell, Helena, Montana; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Mingus View Presbyterian Church in Prescott Valley, Arizona, immediately followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of sending flowers, the family would appreciate your donation "In honor of Darlene Martinson" to the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association at or Northern Arizona Regional Office, 3111 Clearwater Drive, Suite A, Prescott, AZ 86305.
