Locally owned Mortimer Farms will have its annual Pumpkin Fest & Corn Maze event every weekend in October plus Columbus Day, in Dewey.
At the center of this huge festival will be the farm's 15-acre pumpkin patch plus a 25-acre corn maze that this year will benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital. The family event will include attractions, games, farm activities, live entertainment, barn dances, and more.
Admission, which covers all rides and entertainment for the entire family plus a pumpkin for each person, regardless of the size, is $15 per person. Children under 3 are admitted free. Younger guests will enjoy the Farm Animal Petting Zoo, Buckaroo Pony Corner, Farm Slide, Corn Bath, Roping Dummies, Obstacle Course, Mutton Bustin', Calf Riding, Straw Maze, Bounce Playhouse Farmland, and the Barrel Train ride. The whole family can enjoy the Antique Tractor Show & Pull, hayrides, live music and entertainment, craft vendors and fresh farm food.
The Mile High Tractor Club will be displaying antique tractors. They will compete for "Top Pull" every Saturday, seeing which operator and antique tractor can pull the weighted sled the farthest.
Meet Farmer Buzz on a hayride tour of the farm with lots of stories and history about the area. Learn about agriculture, the history of Dewey-Humboldt, and watch a real blacksmith create works of art in iron. Visit www.MortimerFamilyFarms.com to see the daily schedule of bands and entertainment.
Festival hours are noon to 9 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sundays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Columbus Day.
