Obituary: Mary Ellen Dooley
Mary Ellen Dooley of Prescott, Arizona passed on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 after a lengthy, brave fight with cancer.
During her treatment, she enjoyed her time sharing a place of comfort in the home of her daughter, Kathleen Sellick in San Diego, California while previously calling Prescott, Arizona her home.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Patrick.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Philip Sellick of San Diego, California; as well as her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Teresa and Wesley Waddle of Sun City, Arizona.
Mary's youngest granddaughter, Grace Sellick of San Diego, California, recently began her freshman year at USC. Mary's granddaughter, Katy and her husband, Connor Shay are the parents of her first great-granddaughter, Ellie Elizabeth and currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mary's eldest granddaughter Rachel, and her wife Kim Bailey-Hatcher of Phoenix, Arizona, were able to spend many happy weekends visiting "G" in San Diego.
Mary worked as a bookkeeper in her early years. She continued to work intermittently while serving her family as CEO. She was a pillar of strength to her friends and was always involved in volunteer activities, never asking for recognition.
She enjoyed her retirement by hiking, playing tennis, and becoming a master woodworker. Her endless energy allowed her to spend time with loving friends and to visit family. Both Mary and Patrick were passionate about traveling and were able to spend time in Alaska, Europe, Egypt, Bali and Africa. Mary's favorites were the animals on Safari - she loved her "big kitties"!
Mary's family will celebrate her life at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, Arizona. Luncheon follows at noon at the Prescott Resort, Icha Maajoh dining room at 1500 E. State Rte. 69, Prescott, Arizona.
