Letter to the editor: PUSD support
I'm an 8th grade student at Mile High Middle School. This year at Mile High, we have some really awesome classes being offered. Like Engineering Technology with Mr. Habeck, Industrial arts with Mr. Pemberton, science with Mr. Andre and National Junior Honor Society with Mrs. Andre, just to mention a few. ALL of my teachers this year are dedicated and make learning exciting!
I have had many teachers who have changed my life forever and made me a better person. My sixth grade teachers were Ms. Deleone and Mrs. Haskell. Unfortunately, Ms. Deleone moved to Washington State this year to teach. Teachers are paid much better in Washington. Ms. Deleone helped me to love science and math. Her move was a big loss for our community. And this is why I'm asking all community members that can vote to please VOTE YES -YES for the bond and override. We don't want to keep losing amazing teachers to other schools.
Another reason I want to ask you to VOTE in support of the bond and override is because of what happened on Wednesday morning. I was waiting with my friend to ride the school bus, which comes at 7:05. After waiting for 20 minutes, we realized that our bus was not coming. We found out that Mrs. Cindy's bus had broken down. The average mileage on PUSD school buses is 250,000. That's A LOT of miles and it isn't a surprise that buses break down often. The bond will allow the school district to get new buses, which are greatly needed.
You can support our schools without increasing your taxes. This bond replaces a 2004 bond that is expiring. Thank you for supporting the schools in our community and voting YES!
