The tribute band Peter, Paul & Mary Remembered will perform at the Prescott Center for the Arts, 208 N. Marina St., on Saturday, Oct. 11. Co-presented by Folk Sessions, the show will also feature Linda Bilque as a special guest. Tickets for the 2 p.m. show are $20 and can be purchased online at www.pc-az.net.
Peter, Paul & Mary Remembered is managed by an Internet radio station in Phoenix, Folk Sessions Director Tom Agostino said.
When the real Peter, Paul & Mary first started out, they had one microphone and would present very intimate concerts, Agostino said, adding that Peter, Paul & Mary Remembered not only recreates the sound of those concerts but also the feel.
"It's really important to recreate the sound and feel," he said. "They go out of their way to recreate that early '60s and '70s feel."
Agostino recounted playing in Phoenix for the first time at a coffeehouse called Fiddler's Dream. Bilque was performing that night and after playing, the whole audience got up and left because they all came to see her, he said.
Thirteen years later, Agostino called her one of the best songwriters in Arizona as well as a wonderful person.
The concert will be full of songs the audience can sing along to, Agostino said. The songs will also bring back memories for them.
"This'll be music they grew up to," he said. "Remember where you were when you first heard that song, it brings you to a place in your life that's good."
