The delivery of plywood and drywall for the on-going restoration of the Elks Theatre building required a temporary lane closure on Gurley Street Tuesday, Oct. 6. Since fall 2013, contractor Haley Construction Co. has been working on restoration of the building for the Elks Theatre & Performing Arts Center, a non-profit organization that bought the theater from the City of Prescott in 2012. While the first phase focused on restoring the exterior of the building, the current phase is centered on the building's interior. The goal of the renovation is creation of an arts center with dance and music studios, as well as a third-floor space for special events. The project is expected to be complete by early next summer.
