Prescott College dance alumni dating back to 1973 will be sharing their passions and talents with the Prescott community in a weekend-long reunion starting this Friday, Nov. 6, at the Granite Performing Arts Center, 218B N. Granite.
It will be the first time in Prescott College history for a dance reunion of this magnitude to take place.
"We're calling it an once-in-a-lifetime event," said event coordinator and 22-year Prescott College dance instructor Liz Faller.
Having secured a grant, Faller and her career-long colleague Delisa Myles felt if they are ever going to host something like this, now is as good a time as any.
"Everyone knows that Prescott College is changing," Faller said. "Our dance program feels secure right now, but you can never be sure what the future holds; so we realized that there is no time like now."
Faller said the reunion is an opportunity for the public to connect and move with new and old friends and to soak up the inspiration.
Workshops, performances, relaxation, food and networking opportunities will drive the three-day event.
There will be an alumni performance Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m.; a dance party with Moving Edge Ensemble Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.; and seven yoga and dance workshops at various times.
The first workshop is Friday at 2:30 p.m. with Faller and Myles.
For more information, a schedule of events, workshop descriptions or to register online for the full reunion for $50, go to www.prescott.edu/alumni/reunion.
Individual workshops and events will be offered for $10 to $15 sliding scale at the door.
Free childcare will be available for those participating in any of the events.
"Each generation of students helped the dance courses evolve through the years," Faller said. "It's amazing to imagine what it will be like for so many dancers, spanning many years, to come together."
Faller can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 928-350-2218.
