Obituary: Thomas Lee Smith
Thomas Lee Smith, age 74, of Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Auburn and Huntington, Indiana, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in Prescott, Arizona, on the 13th anniversary of his heart transplant.
Funeral services were at noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with the Rev. Dick Frederick officiating. Burial was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington. Pallbearers were Steve Alan Smith, Dane Owens, Tristan Leonhard, Steve Davidson, Jim Shivley, Jeff Glick and Jon Glick. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Glick and Bob Weidelman.

Tom was born on July 11, 1941 in Huntington, the son of Nelson Ray and Alma (Shivley) Smith. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1959, where he was a member of the Viking football team. He was a member of the Moose, Elks and Eagles Lodges in Auburn. He was also a member of the Prescott Vette Sette in Prescott, Arizona. Tom worked for G.E. for 15 years in time study. He also owned The Sound Gallery in Auburn, Canyon State Distributing in Phoenix, Arizona, and Needlemart in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For 14 years, he was a DJ for WIFF Radio in Auburn, but Tom's real passion was flying his airplane.
Tom married Elaine Barnes Smith on July 6, 1988. She survives in Prescott, Arizona. Also surviving are his son Steven Alan (Dawn) Smith of Auburn; daughter Paige Renee (Jeff) Davidson of Illinois; two sisters, Janet (Ed) Glick of Greensboro, Georgia and Janel (Steve) Davidson of Huntington; seven grandchildren, Candace Smith, Audra Smith, Bridget Stine, Tristan (Eryn) Leonhard, Taylor Leonhard, Tierney Leonard and Lake Blocher. His parents and a grandson Tanner Leonhard precede him in death.
