Gallery Guide: Week of May 22

FOURTH Friday Art Walk, www.artthe4th.com. May 22, beginning at 5 p.m. Featuring more than 18 Prescott art galleries remaining open late for visitors and residents to experience an evening of conversation, food, music and art.

Arts Prescott Gallery on Whiskey Row 134 S. Montezuma, 928-776-7717. Carolyn Dunn is Guest Artist of the Month, featuring digital photography. Dunn's work will be on display until June 24. The gallery celebrates 22 years on May 22.

Bronzesmith Fine Art Gallery and Foundry, 7331 E. 2nd St., Prescott Valley, 928-772-2378. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Foundry tours are available by appointment at 11 a.m. on Thursdays for $10 per person. The foundry's annual open house will be on Friday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Gallery at the Prescott Center for the Arts, 208 Marina St., 928-445-3286, www.pca-az.net. Drip, Dribble & Splat, featuring abstract art using drips and splats. Interpreted literally or inventively, mediums include painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, metal and glass.Art Walk Friday reception May 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Light refreshments and beverages served. The exhibit will be on display until Friday, June 26. The Featured Artist Wall highlights the work of Cathy Gibbons. Painting in oil in a loose style reminiscent of Impressionism, Gibbons is the Best of Show Judge's Choice from the Water, Water, Everywhere? Exhibit. Her work will be featured until June 27.

Krieger-Marcusen Gallery, 110 S. Montezuma, Suite F, Hotel St. Michael's Alley, 928-778-4900. Clay, paintings, jewelry and wood by local artists Heath Krieger, Cathy Krieger and Richard Marcusen. Works by Steve Smith (wood) and plein air oil paintings by Bill Anton.

Mountain Artists Guild & Gallery, 228 N. Alarcon St., 928-776-4009, magart@qwestoffice.net. The Main Gallery features "Black and White with a Splash of Color," running through June 27. General Meeting & Art Demonstration, featuring portrait artist Chris Saper, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 22.

Mountain Spirit Gallery, 140 S. Montezuma Street, 928-445-2886. Western art featuring Bill Nebeker, Susan Kliewer, Kathy Quick Anderson, Paul Wenzel, K.L. Powers and 20 other local artists.

Phippen Museum, 4701 Highway 89 North, 928-778-1385, www.phippenartmuseum.org. "Art & Heritage of the Cowboy Artists" runs through Aug. 16, featuring the history, artwork and paintings by the Cowboy Artists. "Happy Birthday, George! 100 Years of Inspiration" runs through July 19, featuring artwork of George Phippen and will explore Phippen's creative process. The 41st annual Western Art Show and Sale, a Memorial Day tradition, will be held May 23-25 at the Courthouse Plaza.

Prescott Valley Art Guild, 3386 North Windsong Drive. www.prescottvalleyartguild.org. Guild members exhibit artwork in a general exhibit gallery and the current featured artists are Shari Hancock and Janet Payne.

Smoki Museum, 147 N. Arizona Ave., 928-445-1230, www.smokimuseum.org. "An Essential Relationship" exhibits professional and amateur archaeologists' contributions to knowledge and understanding of the past. The exhibit runs through May 26.

That New Gallery, 3250 Gateway Blvd. #1008, 928-445-0788, www.thatnewgallery.com. "That New Gallery" continues art demonstrations throughout the week with several classes registering now. Starting June 4, the gallery will host its "First Thursday" reception for the guest artist of the month, featuring three dimensional wall wood sculptor, Wil van der Heyden of Chino Valley. Meet the artist from 5-7 p.m. on June 4.

'Tis Art Center and Gallery, 105 S. Cortez St. Prescott, AZ 86303, www.tisartgallery.com. In the mezzanine gallery "Figments of the Imagination," found object art, oil paintings, steel and bronze sculpture by Judy Kaufman, Darell Woods and Charles Adams running until June 16.

Van Gogh's Ear, 156 S. Montezuma St., 928-776-1080, www.vgegallery.com. Contemporary wall art, ceramics, glass, wood, wearable art and more by more than 60 artists.

Yavapai College Art Gallery, Building 17, 1100 E. Sheldon St., 928-776-2031. May 22: "Point of Time & Texture," featuring handmade paper art by Annie Alexander and Photographs by Esmerelda Ruiz, running until June 26. Friday, May 22, reception (5-7 p.m.) featuring music and dance. June 26 reception (5-7 p.m.) featuring a talk by Alexander.
