2 more OK'd for council primary ballot
PRESCOTT - Both Prescott City Council candidates who filed nominating petitions with the City Clerk's office this week have qualified to be on the primary ballot.
City Clerk Dana DeLong reported that mayoral candidate Dan Fraijo and council candidate Steve Sischka both filed petitions on Monday, May 11.
Fraijo filed 1,089 signatures, and DeLong said 987 of the signers were verified as being Prescott citizens.
Sischka filed 850 signatures, and 796 of the signers were verified, DeLong said.
Both totals exceed the minimum 638 valid signatures needed for candidates to be listed on the ballot.
Fraijo and Sischka join mayoral candidate Harry Oberg and council candidates Billie Orr and incumbent Jim Lamerson, who earlier filed their petitions.
Prospective candidates have until May 27 to file their petitions. Petitions are still being circulated by two prospective City Council candidates - Kellogg Patton and Gerald Stricklin.
The city primary is set for Aug. 25, and the general election is scheduled for Nov. 3. Three council seats are up for election this year, along with the mayor's post.
