Need an excuse to walk your dog? The Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is hosting its fourth annual Walk for the Animals on Saturday, May 16, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
It's a 5k and 1k walk or run to benefit the animal shelter that will feature a number of other animal sports and activities. There will also be a virtual event for those who prefer to help from their home. Registrants get their own fundraising page they can personalize and use to rally support.
Participants can engage in agility or rally courses, consult a pet psychic or groomers, and be part of the pack attempting two Guinness Book World Records: the most dogs doing a simultaneous sit and the most dogs doing Doga - a doggie yoga position.
One can register as a walker, youth walker (11-17), or lazy dog walker.
Magic 99.1 will be hosting a Strut your Mutt contest at the event as well.
The Yavapai Humane Society welcomes all dogs, but they must be licensed, vaccinated and on a leash no more than six feet in length. To register, visit www.yavapaihumane.org/walk2015 or call 928-445-2666 ext. 104.
