Paws for Parkinson's raises more than $11K
PRESCOTT VALLEY - The Paws for Parkinson's event held Saturday, April 25, was a barking success, raising more than $11,000 to help Yavapai County residents affected by Parkinson's disease.
Donations are still straggling in, and will continue to do so through the end of the week, event leader Judy Talley said.
Around 150 people and 30 canines turned out for the dog walk and expo at Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Prescott Valley, she said.
The event was supported by nonprofit sponsor the Parkinson Network of Arizona and host sponsor Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Other major sponsorship came from Yavapai Regional Medical Center and Medtronic.
The Parkinson Network of Arizona will use the money raised to help Prescott and Verde Valley support groups in their outreach, programs and meetings, as well as offer assistance with Parkinson-specific exercise programs and regional conferences.
