The Prescott Valley Event Center is hosting its fifth annual Salute to Heroes event on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21. And in years past, the event closed out with a Sundogs hockey game. But even though hockey is no more, the Event Center is still finishing the Salute to Heroes on a high note: putting on a monster truck and BMX show.

Satish Athelli, business development manager for the Event Center, said that even though the hockey team is gone, organizers still wanted to have a big finish for Salute to Heroes. So the decision was made to bring in Bigfoot.

"It's not a true monster truck show, it's really just Bigfoot... but they're bringing out three trucks," Athelli said. "And we built off of that, we hired a BMX team."

Athelli noted that the idea for the Saturday night show came about from a desire to do an inside showcase to complement the outside event being held Friday at Sun Valley Tires on Highway 69. And those who would rather not go to the show itself can still see Bigfoot on display, along with a Firestone Indy Car, an F-16 cockpit trainer and a special appearance by racing legend Mario Andretti, during the showcase there.

Bigfoot, the Indy Car and the cockpit trainer will also be on display in the hours leading up to the Saturday night show in the center's parking lot along with K9 units, medical helicopters, demonstrations from local emergency responders and mobile command unit tours.

Bigfoot and BMX bikes won't be the only entertainment the show has to offer. Athelli said there will also be demonstrations from SWAT and the fire department.

"They're dynamic demonstrations," Athelli said, "all part of the experience. It gives a positive way of interacting with the public."

Athelli said the show is for the whole family, stating that a portion of the event's proceeds goes to USVETS.

Tickets for the Saturday night show are $10, and children under 12 get in free. Tickets are available online at or by calling 866-443-8849.

The show starts at 6 p.m. and the free showcase beforehand is from 1 to 6 p.m.
