Obituary: Elizabeth Ann Goodwin Byerley
Born on May 5, 1915 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a graduate of University of Minnesota. She went to be with our Lord on March 5, 2015.
Elizabeth worked at AiResearch, Children's Hospital and Mountain Bell as a telephone operator in Phoenix and Prescott Arizona. She retired in 1976.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adaline and William Goodwin; sisters Jean Wallior, Mary Neil and Margaret Brownell; nephew John Michael Calderon; grandson Richard Wayne Blair; and nephew, Dr. Archie MacMillan.
She is survived by daughter Margaret (Maggie) Bryce (Wesley); sons James R. Blair (Jean) and William (Bill) G. Byerley (Deborah); grandchildren, Tari Lynne Infante, Patricia Ann Lambeth, James Blair, Elizabeth Byerley, Michelle Byerley, David Bailey, Bill Byerley Jr.; great grandchildren, William Nelson, Harrison Reid Lambeth, Andrea, Vincent and Shania Infante, Makayla Blair, Ryan, David and Daniel Blair, Alyssah Bailey, Gavin Byerley, Christopher Tapper, Carahmae Conway, Madison Renfro, Adeline O'Farrell, Mikenzy Renfro, Taylor Beck; nieces, Mary Elizabeth Neil and Margaret (Peggy) Callaghan (Robert), Judith Huth (James) and Carolyn Foit; nephews Dr. Alan MacMillan, Johnny Neil and John Wilson; and several great-grandchildren, grandnieces and nephews.
Elizabeth is a long time member of Disciples of Christ Church where she served as an elder and on several committees, Telephone Pioneers and was involved in many community projects, including delivering Meals on Wheels and Walk Through Bethlehem. Her creative talents included making kachina dolls, pine needle basketry, oil painting and needlepoint. She loved to fly and went on many trips and cruises. She was an avid reader and often had more than one book open at once. She was an expert gardener and her yard was her joy.
Elizabeth was a strong and amazing woman and will be missed by all.
A Memorial service celebrating her life will be today, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1230 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, Arizona.
