Obituary: Ellen Fuqua Dick

Former Parker, Arizona resident, Ellen Fuqua "Billie" Dick, died of natural causes in Prescott on June 23, 2015. She was 99. Born in Parker in 1915, Mrs. Dick attended Parker schools and the University of Arizona. She lived in Tucson for several years before returning to Parker.

She commenced teaching school in 1952 at Parker Dam and taught there until her retirement in 1980. Her family pioneered the Parker area, moving there in 1915. Her father, Berkeley M. Fuqua founded the Parker Commercial Company, a long time business there.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Bates Fuqua; her father Berkeley; two brothers, Hubbard and Granville; four sisters, Ruth, Mabel, Senee and Carrie. Her daughter, Linda Dick Simmons died in 2005.

She is survived by her son Henry F. "Roby" Dick (Nell) of Prescott; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren Austen Haydis (Brenda) of Oceanside, California, Deborah Haydis Taft (Steve) of Fallbrook, California and Grant Dick (Sunshine) of Mesquite, Nevada, Chris Kulp (Sara) of Scappoose, Oregon and Katie Gannon (Jesse) of West Richland, Washington. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Corina and Lyle Docker, Ethan Taft, Elise Dick, Mathew, Addison and Kyle Kulp and Reese and Tanner Gannon. Also, a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, Ruth Carson, Bill and Jay Carson, Jeane Conroy, Berkeley Rourke, Kim Hester, Anne Hester Kuhn and Pat Creighton. A large and loving family will miss her.

At her request, there will be no services. Her ashes will be inurned in the family plot at the Parker Cemetery.
