6 garden plots available at discounted rate

For the first time, Prescott Valley Community Garden is offering a discount on its rental plots. Potential renters have until June 21 to sign up for the last six plots in the Garden located on the southeast corner of Florentine and Lake Valley roads behind Haggen's (formerly Albertsons).

Instead of $75 for two 4-by-15-foot plots, the rental price is $60. To rent just one plot, the cost is $30. This is a first-come, first-served offer that expires at midnight on June 14.

The soil has been heavily amended with alpaca manure for the past five years, so it's ready to be planted. The automatic drip system provides regular watering and is included in the rental fee.

Since 2011, the Garden has donated more than 14,000 pounds of organic, freshly harvested food to Prescott Valley's food banks and pantries. Rental fees offset the cost of water so the Garden can continue growing food for people who need it.

All the food you grow is for you and your family; however, just by being a renter, you're helping out your neighbors, too. Rental forms and contact information is online at pvcommunitygarden.org or call Robin at 928-899-2652 for more information.
