Juneteenth Festival celebrates American Jazz this weekend
The Prescott Jazz Society's annual two-day jazz festival, the www.arcosanti.org/">Arcosanti Juneteenth Jazz Splash is coming this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14.
Celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation through all-American jazz, blues and gospel, the festival features live music, cabaret shows, artisan vendors, barbecue, dancing and everything Arcosanti has to offer.
The festival opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and at noon, the music starts, presenting professional and renowned performers representing the evolving styles of jazz history. From the Phoenix African Drum & Dance Troupe, "Omowale Kawambe" to IMPACT Trio performing fusion jazz, the timeline performances will be accompanied by historical narrative.
The festival ends at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
The cafeteria, open from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. is $10 per person. The menu consists of Seafood Ettoufe, tofu creole, dirty rice, Arcosanti Cole Slaw and Louisiana lentil soup on Saturday and Chicken Mafe, black eyed pea stew, brown rice pilaf, sweet potato salad and pineapple melow salad on Sunday.
Admission is $10 per day or $5 for a group of 10 or more. Arcosanti can be found by taking Hwy 69 E. past Mayer and exiting on Arcosanti Road, turning left on S. Cross L Road. and turning right on Scenic Loop Road.
