One purpose of the American Legion is to recognize community service. On Friday, June 5th, Cordes Lakes Post 122 did just that. Ten people were selected to receive the Civic Pride Award medal for that little extra they put into their volunteer work.

Seven medals went to Glenn & Julie Brown, Tom & Janean Haney, Pastor Robert Ossler, Brian & Carrie Simington for their efforts towards assisting the families of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew. Connie Pollard works tirelessly for St. Vincent de Paul and Meals on Wheels. Lynn Hess calls the Mayer Elementary School children her grandchildren and reads to them regularly. Virginia Tallent is the volunteer director of Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, a paid position in the past.

Charles Leon made the presentations under the watchful eye of Commander Ron Johnson. Legion members and guests applauded the recipients for a job very well done.
