Patriot Run scheduled for Sept. 7

The Patriot Run is scheduled for Sept. 7, with a Labor Day - Patriotic Theme, at the Civic Center in Prescott Valley.

Check-in at 7a.m. The flag presentation and pledge of allegiance is at 8:30 a.m. with 10k starting at 9 a.m., 5k at 9:10 a.m. and fun run/walk at 9:20 a.m.

The Patriot Run will be highlighting the Prescott Valley Healing Field of Northern Arizona. People will have the opportunity to walk through the fields and pay their respects to the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost on 9/11.

Awards will be given to first, second and third place for the 10k and 5k for both men and women finishers. Fun run/walk participants will receive awards for Most Patriotic Dressed Kid, Most Patriotic Dressed Family/Group, and Most Patriotic Decorated stroller, wagon or wheelchair.

There will be an emergency vehicle display of fire trucks and police vehicles and booths set up to talk to kids and families about life safety things, like "Crawl low in smoke" and "Stop drop and roll."

Active Military Personnel will run for free. They will have to bring their Active Military ID Card to check-in to get register. (Check-in will be available the evening before as well as the morning of the event).

The Patriot Run is a fundraiser for the Central Yavapai Fire District Honor Guard.
