The public is welcome to attend a free discussion about the monarch butterfly from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Watters Garden Center, 1815 W. Iron Springs Road.

Gail Morris with the SW Monarch Study and Monarch Watch will present several topics for discussion.

Participants may learn about the following:

• Status of monarch butterflies in Arizona

• Egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and adult - learn them all!

• Grow milkweed for monarchs

• Create a "Monarch Waystation" in your yard

• Why tag a monarch butterfly? Join the fun!

Monarch artwork, jewelry, garden boxes and bumper stickers will be available for purchase in addition to milkweed plants and seeds.

Fiona Reed will represent Painted Lady Vineyard and Milkweed Plantation.
