SEDONA - A woman hiking the south side of Bell Rock slipped and fell about twenty feet off a trail Sunday, July 19, sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said.

Around 11:45 a.m., the woman, in her 40's, went over the edge, striking her head, although D'Evelyn said the reason she fell is unclear.

Her husband shouted for help and nearby hikers were able to call 911.

"EMS personnel from the Sedona Fire District arrived quickly to coordinate the rescue and were able to eventually locate the injured woman and stabilize her for transport," D'Evelyn said. "Fortunately, her injuries were not life threatening."

She was transported to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment.
