Sacred Heart Catholic School Sacred Service Club students donated time Monday, July 13, to the Coalition for Compassion & Justice's Fair Start program to get backpacks filled with school supplies to students in Yavapai County.

Club members sorted and counted the donations received so far. CCJ is hoping to put together 1,400 backpacks. There still is need for everything - especially scissors, highlighters and dry-erase markers.

Want to help? Donations can be brought to CCJ at United Methodist Church on Gurley Street during business hours. Donations are needed by July 22 in order to distribute backpacks on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Backpacks will be available for low-income preschoolers through college students.

Questions are best directed to Diane Iverson, director of special projects at CCJ, at 928-541-9304 and ccjdirectorspecialprojects@gmail.com.
