PRESCOTT VALLEY - Gears grinding, engines roaring and dirt flying are coming to Prescott Valley. Arizona Offroad Promotions (AZOP) is bringing its brand of motocross racing to Prescott Valley on July 18 and 19. This will be the second time AZOP has come to Prescott Valley.
Two days of multi-class motocross racing will take place at Lynx Creek in Prescott Valley. The event will kick off on Saturday, July 18, with the Grand Canyon Crusher team races. Then on Sunday, July 19, the Lynx Creek MX individual racer event will take place.
According to Arizona Offroad Promotions' co-owner Kyle Krause, the event is expected to draw between 300 and 400 racers and as many as 1,000 spectators. "The event is just for fun and open to all levels of racers," Krause said. "Racers don't have to be members of the organization to participate." More than just racing is going on this the weekend. Krause also said a number of vendors will be set up.
The races will have five different categories of vehicles, from motorcycles to utility vehicles (UTVs). Each category of vehicle will have different engine sizes or displacements. Six skill levels of racers from professional to pee-wee will be vying for points and prizes.
Krause said that he and his partner, Richie Rees, are planning on having at least two to three events per year in Prescott Valley. He even hinted at a surprise special race he is working on, hoping to make it a reality soon. "We are very excited to be racing in Prescott Valley."
The weekend's races are sure to wow both fans and the curious. For more information about the races go to www.arizonaoffroadpromotions.com. You can also contact the promoters at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 623-363-9665.
