Brenda LaRae Pendergast (Salter)

Brenda LaRae Pendergast (Salter), 51, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. Brenda was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on Nov. 22, 1963, to parents Don R. Salter and Mary L. Salter and soon moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she attended grade school.

She graduated from Scottsdale Christian Academy in 1982. She attended SCC to pursue her love of music as a music major. She began her career in the title business as a secretary, working her way up to commercial escrow officer.

Brenda married Jim Pendergast of Scottsdale on July 4, 1989, and began raising her family. As her family grew, she left the title business to be a full-time mother and home-maker, her dream job. She taught piano lessons to young students for extra spending money but mostly to encourage music in children. She enjoyed singing, especially in church. As her children grew older, she returned to work as a real estate agent and spent many years on the board of directors to the Prescott Area Association of Realtors, including time as the chair of the Government Affairs Committee.

When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010, she stepped down from the board but continued to work part-time as a Realtor as her health allowed.

Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Salter; twin sisters Dawn and Fawn; and son Michael Thomas.

She is survived by her husband Jim Pendergast; daughter Jennifer Best of Litchfield Park; daughter Amanda and Bobby Cabano of Mesa; daughter Sara Meyer of Prescott Valley; son Daniel and Belinda Pendergast of Camp Verde; daughter Donelle and Chet Flick of Mayer; son Ian Pendergast of Deer Valley; daughter Ruby Pendergast of Prescott Valley, and 13 grandchildren. She is also survived by her father, Don R. Salter of Scottsdale, and her sister Tamera Zinn of Henderson, Nevada, as well as nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Humboldt Bible Church, 2500 Old Black Canyon Highway, Humboldt, Arizona. Reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Arizona Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund, 3838 N. Campbell Ave.,

Tucson, AZ 85719.
