Police charge Prescott Valley man with child sex crimes
PRESCOTT VALLEY - A 48-year-old Prescott Valley man is facing seven possible felony charges after a police investigation revealed he allegedly had sexual conduct with a now 10-year-old girl between 2008 and 2010. Prescott Valley police arrested Rance William Walker on Jan. 22 at his home on Catherine Drive.
The police department was notified of the allegations against Walker in December by the child's guardian, who lives in southern Arizona. State Child Protective Services and local law enforcement covering the jurisdiction where the guardian lives conducted a joint investigation that led to a search warrant executed at Walker's home by Prescott Valley police.
Detectives reportedly found more than 1,600 images of child pornography on electronic devices belonging to Walker, including images of the victim, who was 6 or younger at the time authorities allege the crimes occurred.
Police booked Walker in the Yavapai County jail. Booking charges include three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, a Class 2 felony; sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class 3 felony; two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, a Class 3 felony; and furnishing harmful items to a minor, a Class 4 felony. Bond was set at $150,000. The Yavapai County Attorney's Office is expected to announce final charges against Walker on Monday, Feb. 9.
