James A. Stephenson

James A. Stephenson reached the final frontier after living a bold and full life for almost 70 years. He lived by one motto "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." He always put the needs of his family and friends before his own. He was our strength; he was our compass; he was the standard to which most people never reach. The loss that we feel is like nothing we've ever encountered; however, the memories and the guidance he left us will have to be enough to comfort and guide us until we meet again.

James went by many names. Most who knew him, called him Jim. Some of his family called him Jimbo or Jimmy. A few of his grandchildren called him Hun, Yes Hun and he loved it! Some of his truck driver friends called him a few names that would be highly inappropriate. He was a husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle and cousin. We all may have called him something different but to all of us, he was larger than life.

Jim now watches over his wife of 45 years, Shirley; his four children, Pam and Tom Liuzzo and Jim and Julie Stephenson; and his four grandchildren, Maria and Tommy Liuzzo and Julia and Jenna Stephenson. He also watches over his 91-year-old mother, Pauline Goguen.

There will be no memorial service because Jim told us many times that he didn't want anything like that. Instead, we will be having a potluck gathering of friends and family at his home on Dec. 5 at noon. All who loved Jim are welcome to come.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers and that you cherish every moment with the ones that you love. Do not take those small moments for granted and live long and prosper.
