Pet adoption event being held Aug. 28-30

Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is hosting a "Pick Your Price" adoption event Aug. 28-30. More than 120 cats and dogs eagerly await their forever homes, and the shelter is quickly filling with more homeless pets. The "Dog Days of Summer and Cool Cat Nights" is a great time to send them to their loving families.

It is no secret that having a furry friend around can enrich a person's life. From health benefits including increased exercise, lower stress, decreased risk for heart disease to psychological and social benefits like companionship and educational lessons such as responsibilities of life and mutual trust. Studies have proven that four-legged friends make people healthier and happier.

The "Dog Days of Summer and Cool Cat Nights" special is a chance for the local community to reap the benefits of pet ownership by adopting. Those looking for a new furry family member won't find a better time or better selection of pets.

All YHS pets are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, de-wormed, and current on flea and tick preventative care-a package worth $400 in value. Every animal adopted at YHS is also eligible for one free introductory wellness exam with a local veterinarian.

Standard YHS adoption policies still apply. Offer does not include animals under the age of six months or purebred dogs. Cat testing fees may apply. Adoptable pets can be viewed at www.yavapaihumane.org/adopt.
