Letter: Dem choices
I cannot say that I share the enthusiasm about Joe Biden, or for that matter, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, for president as columnist Tom Cantlon has chosen. Joe Biden has been on the wrong side of most major decisions involving our economy and our foreign policy. He was against Reagan's tax cuts and Strategic Initiative (SDI), which was one of the three programs that drove the Soviet Union to near economic collapse. This won the "Cold War" without firing a shot. Cantlon has overlooked the fact that foreign relations under Joe Biden are the worst it has ever been.
Bernie Sanders is an admitted socialist and history has demonstrated that capitalism produces a higher standard of living over any socialist country in the world. Sanders with his proposed 90 percent tax on the rich will sink our economy further. It has been demonstrated by three presidents that tax cuts boost our economy.
Both Sanders and Hillary have been proposing equality in incomes. In a democracy under capitalism with the rule of law, there cannot be equal incomes as there is not equality in intellect, ambition, knowledge and arts and craftsmanship among the population. Also, Hillary has demonstrated her socialist leanings when she said, "Corporations and businesses do not provide jobs." This is a telling demonstration of economic ignorance. This and Hillary's lying about her non-classified emails, where at least two of the 40 emails investigated are Top Secret. It has been scandals and lies involving the Clintons for over two decades. Does not sound like "good standards for serious presidential candidates," as T. Cantlon desires.
