Victim identified in fatal Cornville crash

Udpate, Thursday, Aug. 13 CORNVILLE - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle van crash Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, on Lee Pasture Road, Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said.Sandra Silva, 46, of Cornville, died when the van she was driving west on Lee Pasture drifted to the left side of the single-lane, dirt road, D'Evelyn said, and she overcorrected, and headed off the roadway. The van "then collided with a bar-ditch depression and embankment which apparently caused the vehicle to roll," he said.Sliva was thrown from the van, then struck by it, D'Evelyn said.Deputies believe the crash occurred several hours before area residents discovered it and called for help around 6 a.m., he said.It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved, and the investigation is continuing, D'Evelyn saidEarlier story:CORNVILLE - A woman was killed Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, when a van she was driving rolled over on Lee Pasture Road near Page Springs Road, according to sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn.D'Evelyn said the woman, who is in her 40s, was apparently thrown from the van during the crash, which happened before 6 a.m.Deputies are still working to determine the cause of the crash.It doesn't appear that any other vehicles were involved, D'Evelyn said.The name of the driver has not been released.D'Evelyn asked that anyone with information about what happened call the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office at 928-771-3260 and refer to case number 15-030890.
