Minkus leads Cougars' golfers with team-best 43

Chino Valley 2nd in 3-team match at Antelope Hills

Chino Valley High's golf team placed second in a three-team meet against Camp Verde and Bagdad on Wednesday, April 15, at Antelope Hills in Prescott.

Camp Verde won the match with a team score of 157 points. Chino compiled 187 points, and Bagdad tallied 197 for third.

"It was a great day, as all three teams had their lowest scores of the season," Cougars coach Jerry Behm said.

Camp Verde's Joel Beauty shot the winning low score with an even-par 36.

For Chino, sophomore Jared Minkus shot a team-best 43; the lowest score he's carded in only 2-1/2 months as a high school golfer, Behm said.

"He is a great example of how hard work and a positive desire to do well has benefits," Behm added about Minkus.

Also for the host Cougars, Tyler Gianfrancesco and Rory Stupak, both sophomores, registered identical 45s.  Jake Hanson scored with a 54.
