Chalk art festival this weekend
The wildest aspect of art is that it can be in almost any medium and be about anything the imagination can concoct. Well, this Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, the seventh annual Chalk it Up! Prescott festival will take place. Offering free chalk spaces and chalk, participants of any age can work side by side with professional artists.
Earlier, West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation Executive Director Laura Norman told the Courier that anyone can enjoy the event even if they don't have artistic talent.
"This event is about having fun and being creative," she said.
Those who attend can either create for themselves or enjoy the creations of others as well as enjoy the event's local entertainers. And for those who want to create but have difficulty bending down, ceramic tiles will be provided.
Of the featured and guests artists at the event, many are returning, like Lori Antoinette, who started out in oil and acrylics, but fell in love with chalk art. Antoinette called art a lifestyle that defines and makes people alive.
Chalk it Up! Will be held at the National Bank of Arizona parking lot at the corner of Willis and Montezuma from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19. Proceeds benefit the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation.
