Installation of safety features to close Whiskey Row April 19 & 20
PRESCOTT - Installation of sleeves for new temporary traffic barriers will require a full closure of Whiskey Row between Goodwin and Gurley streets this weekend.
To enhance safety for downtown events, the City of Prescott will be installing sleeve assemblies in the pavement near the crosswalks at both ends of South Montezuma Street (Whiskey Row), according to a news release from the city.
The sleeves will allow the placement of removable steel traffic bollards - vertical steel posts - to provide a temporary physical barrier between vehicles and special events that take place on Whiskey Row.
To accomplish the work, Whiskey Row between Goodwin and Gurley will be closed to all traffic and parking beginning Sunday, April 19 at 11 a.m., and continuing until Monday April 20 at 8 p.m.
The city expects to complete the installation in time to allow the bollards to be used during the upcoming Whiskey Off-Road mountain bike race from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26, and for future events throughout the year.
