Pooches and people walk for Parkinson's Disease
Saturday, April 25, the Paws for Parkinson's Walk and Expo will combine fun and fundraising in one event. With major sponsorship by Yavapai Regional Medical Hospital, Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital and Medtronic, the Paws Walk offers people with Parkinson's disease and those who love them way to raise funds while enjoying a springtime morning walk with family and friends, multiple chances to win prizes and raffle items, and a tasty sack lunch that can be "for here" or "to go."
Many area businesses are also involved, providing items to be raffled, prizes to registered walkers, and taking tables at the expo. With non-profit organization status provided by the Parkinson Network of Arizona and the enthusiastic support of quad-cities residents, their families and friends, 100% of funds raised will be dedicated to benefitting over 1,000 people in Yavapai County and their care partners who daily cope with the challenges and often difficult circumstances of living with Parkinson disease. Funds raised will help provide educational events, assistance to the Prescott and Verde Valley support groups and their vital activities, specialized exercise and therapy programs, and facilitation of the extensive volunteer efforts offered by the support groups, area healthcare providers and services.
Walkers can learn more about the event and register to participate at www.paws4pd.kintera.org, by calling 928.202.7952, or email to Judy.Talley1@gmail.org. Dogs are not required. You need not walk the 1.6 mile course to participate. If you would like to attend without registering, please join in.
